Follow up to a popular book: A Sizzling Highland Spring (Sensual Journeys)
So far it's pretty darn sexy, but I'm loving this plot line and the characters. Naomi the heroine is Ailsa's best friend (in #Hot Highland Fling [Erotic Journeys]) from America. After she caught her, so called, boyfriend in their bed with a graduate student, and discovered he took credit Naomi's doctorate research, she's determined to take a page out of Aisla's Cinderella story. She needs to rethink what she wants out of her work and her life...and that includes what kind of man and the type of sex. She considers releasing her inhibitions and experimenting, but she needs someone safe--someone who isn't looking for a commitment--because that would ruin everything.
Ailsa and Colin provide the perfect opportunity... They need a "house" sitter for their castle in Scotland over the summer while the University investigates a faery mound (cairn) discovered on their property. Naomi's lifelong dream has been to excavate an untouched cairn, and while she's there Colin asks her to appraise the objects in the old castle dungeon.
I'll post unedited excerpts as the story develops on my BLOG. Please comment. I love to hear what my readers think. ~~~ EM
There's still more outlining to be done for the SciFi distopian book I started for NaNoWriMo 2015. As ideas come to me, I get right to it.
For all you paranormal fans - The 4th book in the Hearts of Darkness is in the planning phase. I have a few new characters to add and a few old ones whose stories need to be told. Who doesn't want to know what Ramon is? Who can't wait to see Max convince the demoness/halfling he's right for her? And OMG, don't you just want to rub yourself all over that cajun wolf, Garr? So many men, too many choices! Where to start?

Books: The Author
by Maureen Sevilla
"Where do you want to go?" he asked.
"What would you like to see?
Isn't there something you've wanted to do?
Or someone you've wanted to be?"
He wrote down impressions of far away places
Of wonder and sadness and sin.
He researched his thoughts for just the right word
To express where he'd already been.
He scoured the pages for just the right spot,
For just what he thought I'd need.
Then he turned to me and further impressed,
"... to open your inner seed?"
Bound here are possibilities.
Bound here are hopes and fears.
Bound here are endless dreams and seers
Unbound by type and tears.

Optional Question for Today: How has being a writer changed your experience as a reader?
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG
THANK YOU, CO-HOSTS!
The answer to our optional question today is somewhat complicated for me. As a writer the classes and workshops have influenced my writing and as a result, changed the way I write to make the reading experience more enjoyable for my reader. But the real change happened when I began critiquing and then professionally editing. The more manuscripts I read, the more I could identify my own insufficiencies...and theirs. SHOW DON'T TELL meant so much more to me when I saw someone else make the same mistake. The "ah ha" moments just kept coming. Studying how a good author does it right. Makes reading for pleasure almost impossible.
Reading for pleasure now only happens when I force myself not to study the process, and I read seasoned authors' works. I seldom discover a new author I don't find myself editing. Remember I said seldom. It happens and is always a pleasant surprise I love the experience of picking up a book and looking up half way through, wondering how I got there. So keep in mind, when you write, Hook them in the first paragraph, keep the pace moving, hook the reader from one scene to the next. Don't allow the reader to breathe without a struggle.
