Musings of a writer to her readers...

After fifteen years of working on my craft and focusing on erotic romance, I realize now what I've always wanted to write is more plot detail. My readers seem to want it too and not all necessarily in the sex scenes. I spent time on the erotic detail (because I wrote for an erotic publishing house - duh) when the real detail kept trying to creep into the story, tempting the readers, perhaps even frustrating them because once they got a taste, they wanted more.

If you read my recent blog about writing, you can see I finally figured out why the DNA kept showing up as a theme in my books. I probably should have spent more time with the explanations, but at the time I was focused on the sex. Because...that's what I was supposed to be writing.

(Hey, you can probably understand my distraction. But  it's been awhile and I'm older and wiser.) My purpose is clearer than it was, and the most important books I ever wanted to write are still outlined in rough draft because I knew I wasn't prepared to write them, yet. Therefore, more prepared now, the first book in the series of my heart (The Gemini Prophecy will be dedicated to my mother who inspired me) will be coming in the next year or so - about April 2016.

The first book I actually wrote was published under a different pseudonym and when I get my rights back to that one, I will be releasing it with the second and third books in that series under the Eliza March name. I know many fans are still waiting for the next book, and I promise those stories will be told. Early 2016 too.

So now...I'll give away a free ebook version of my first book, if you send me your email address and can name the title and the pseudonym I used.

Have a great weekend.

Mackenzie’s ménage fantasy comes to life when she’s snowbound with Sky Castle Lodge partners, Adam and Trent. One golden, one surly, the alpha males vie for her attention. For Kenzie, the strange sensations, the sexual need, and the awkwardness all make sense when she discovers she's a shape-shifter. Adam and Trent supported each other through their first metamorphosis, and agree to guide Kenzie safely through hers. But when they turn, Were males don’t share. Kenzie must choose between them, or they’ll fight to the death. Accepting that she is meant for both of them, they have one other option. Adam can submit sexually to Trent, becoming his submissive. Kenzie can help them through the sexual boundaries, but what will it do to the men’s friendship? Or the balance in their ménage relationship?

Write what you know

For fourteen years I've claimed I didn't want to write about the beauty industry (Something I've been involved with, in every possible way, from styling to manufacturing, teaching, performance, management, and promotion.  In fact, in ways you would never imagine.) Then one day last week, I realized I'd been doing just that...writing what I knew...hey, I do not have personal experience with everything I write, but my background has influenced my writing in many ways.
I was trying to update my author bio because the ones out there are so lame. In the process, I examined my past and thought about where my stories take place, and wondered why so many contained threads of theories about genetic influences. Then I had my "Ah ha" moment.
Without writing my autobiography here, let me briefly explain...
My stories take place in varied locales. (From the age of three until I married at twenty-one, I was an Air Force brat living and traveling throughout the US and Europe.) I became interested in genealogy and the genetic tracing of my ancestry. (My first interest in DNA surfaced when I was my husband's study buddy while he was pursuing his microbiology degree and I my English degree.) The interest in DNA fostered my future in many ways. But what matters is the theme reappears in so many of my stories and so do places I lived or visited.
My interest genealogy sparked my fiction writing skills, although it was later in life. After discovering one specific relative on my husband's side of the family, something spurred me to imagine in detail what her life may have been like. The Story of Amelia is incomplete, but someday I hope to publish the book about the girl who started my career in writing, a dream I considered since I was in middle school.
Are you writing what you know?
Final disclaimer: I am still happily married, a mother of five, a grandmother, a pet owner, and live a quiet life in sunny Florida. I have a very active, creative mind, though.

Scrivener: Pass the learning curve-fall in love

My love-hate relationship with Scrivener is coming to an end. As I learn more about it and practice, love is once again in the air. I always knew I was attracted to it, the pull was almost irresistible, but misunderstandings make any relationship difficult. So we're getting to know each other better. We're taking it slowly. Short projects like short dates give me time to evaluate what I've learned before I move on. There is so much to learn it's tempting to jump in and devour all the scrumptious parts. It's potential is limitless, but I'm finding it's better to do small projects and work up to the larger ones.
When I can I visit the YouTube training videos and have taken two short classes. One lovely author was kind enough to do a one on one with me on Facebook. Really, that was probably the most effective lesson because I could ask questions as I went. If you're a hands on learner then dive in. it's free for thirty days and then its totally reasonable for purchase. I'm in love and determined to make this relationship work.

What Happens When The Internet Goes Down?

Last Friday, I was getting ready to press send to publish my reworked book to Smashwords: THE LEOPARD, THE LION, AND THE WOLF coming August 31st -- and my internet went down. I know I'm fortunate because it's been so long I can't remember when it faltered last. This time it threw me off because there wasn't any bad weather in the area to attribute it to, and really...just 10 seconds more and I wouldn't have had to start the process from scratch when it did come back.

After my frustration, a friend of mine suffered downtime on her internet yesterday. Separate company. Separate state. Her carrier was down nationwide. My phone carrier was sporadic last week. So what's going on out there in the invisible band widths that I don't understand? I mean I don't now how it works in the first place so anything that happens is a mystery to me. I do know there are still reasons I keep everything backed up on a local hard drive and don't leave everything in the cloud. It's a great invention if you have access but when it's get the idea.

What secret solutions do you have for backing up? Still using printing everything out? LOL

In any case, the experience made me think about how tied I am to the internet. My friends and family stay in  touch daily with social networking. My business of writing ebooks is  dependent totally on me and my readers having access. My friend is taking online courses and has deadlines to download her work. Our bank accounts, medical records, everything is dependent on lines of communication I don't understand ... and can I trust something that so completely has me at it's mercy?

Staying off the internet does make my work day more efficient, though. I've learned to limit  my personal time on Facebook, etc. and focus most of that time on promotions etc. Then I'm off the web and in the real world. Writing and editing and praying when I press send that mysterious THING known as the internet will suck my ideas in and deliver it to where it was supposed to go. In any case, I'm keeping a few good paper books on hand at all times in case I'm desperate for a fix and the electricity goes off.

WIP sometimes at a snail's pace...

Here's a sneak peak at a short scene from the next Hearts of Darkness Book: DAMN THE DARKNESS

Right now, I'm struggling for time to fit the edits in. I'm working on a planning calendar that will free up the time I need to get back to my story. I have several more in the works, but oh where oh where is the time? Self publishing means so much of the responsibility falls to you.

I hope you enjoy this excerpt  from my upcoming book. I still don't have a firm release date, but I swear it will be this year! Sign up for my blog feed so you don't miss the date or any special pricing I'll be offering.

“I know. I know you blame yourself for my death, Dylan. But who could have known? Believe me,” she said, shaking her head from side to side, “I don’t blame you.” She tapped her finger against her head. “If anyone’s at fault, I blame myself for being careless. I’m trained FBI, a Special Agent with psychic abilities. I knew better than to drop my blocks--open up. I should have seen it coming.” She lifted her face to his, cupped his strong jaw in her hands, and stared deeply into his eyes. “I want to be your partner, your equal in every way, not a burden you have to look out for—”
“No, Caitlin." He stopped her. "Be very clear on this point. You are not a burden.” Dylan’s rigid jaw could have been made of solid granite as he spit out each word separately. “And…we will not be equals in every way. That won’t be possible.” The tension in his jaw loosened, but his words, although firm, sounded rough with emotion as he drew her into his tight embrace. “Love, each of us will bring something of value to this union. Who we are and what we are will find a balance, and our abilities will complement one another’s. Each of us will be the strength to the other’s weakness. You are my life mate, a gift beyond measure. Never, no matter what happens, never think of yourself as a burden.”
She nodded understanding for the first time what true love meant. Her chest tightened, and she whispered because tears clogged her throat. “I love you, Dylan.”
“Good. I love you, too. Let’s go home and I’ll show you how much, and then you can show me.” With a wink, he took her arm and helped her to the car. “We’ll take the rental back tomorrow.”

New Release from Eliza March October 13th

Witch's Tattoo by Eliza March
Coming ... October 13th, 2014 from The Wild Rose Press

"Pride or power, lust or love, life or death."

Michael Veret, Acadian coven leader, knows his destiny lies with his soul mate, the witch with the ability to restore the power of the Pentacle, a power needed to release the coven's spirit gifts, but his heart belongs to the young grad student he can't have.

On her birthday, Lisette Bouchard discovers the legacy her parents died for. She's a powerful witch, but with no training, no mentor, and no coven. Her on and off again relationship with Michael is over...until she discovers he's the warlock who must approve her coven membership. When she discovers they are also soul mates, destined to fulfill the pentacle’s prophecy, Lisette isn't certain she wants destiny ruling her love life.

What she is certain of is she wants Michael to love her for herself and not because he needs her for her power. Will Michael be able to prove he’s loved her all along ... before evil steals her away?

Male heads turned and testosterone levels rose. Hard to miss all that sexual magnetism. Michael’s possessive instincts kicked in, and he had to garner control to force back the jealousy.
The skirt she wore barely covered her sexy ass—like a black leather napkin filled with wicked delights. Damn, the witch looked hot enough to melt ice-forged steel. He tortured himself with the image of her wearing just the pendant and the boots—thigh high, black leather cut in lacy patterns, exposing her creamy skin below.
The tips of her long black hair brushed her narrow waist the way it had the night he watched her in the scrying mirror. His fingers twitched with the desire to trace her plunging neckline. A neckline that bared her deep cleavage and the pendant. He marveled at the way the metal settled between her pale ivory mounds, and imagined how warm the medallion grew against her soft flesh.
As she planted herself in front of him with one hip cocked defiantly and her hand outstretched, he warred with his inner needs. Michael held back to inspect each lovely inch of her and savor the moment. He couldn’t wait for the inevitable. To touch, to taste, to conquer…and to surrender. But not here. Not now.

Writing in Your Sleep #writing

I shouldn't wait until the afternoon to write my blog because sometimes by then I've forgotten all the awesome ideas I had in the morning. Who else is brilliant in the morning?

I drag myself out of bed and try to organize my thoughts, the ones that kept waking me up because they were such awesome ides, and then as I finish making the coffee and begin drinking it, the ideas don't seem so unique in the clear light of day. Hmmm. Did I lose something in the translation from dreamland to the kitchen?

Possibly. But more realistically, I probably dreamed the ideas were better than they were. Do you keep a notepad next to your bed for times when they really are good? You could try recording into your smart phone, too. (My husband would probably hate that--lol)
He'd wake up and ask me who I was talking to, and I'd have to try that whole "Jake from State Farm..." thing.

My best edits usually come from my dreams, the ones just on the edge of consciousness, that time when my creative mind picks out the missing pieces and wakes me.  These moments are helpful also when I can't find something. My subconscious knows where the object is, but even after searching for days on end, I can't find the object until  my mind is at rest. Then it says, "The moonstone you're looking for is in your underwear drawer." (I know...Don't ask.)

Commercial Break: But the moonstone is an object in my next book, Damn the Darkness (due out next month) part of the Hearts of Darkness series available from all vendors, but Conquer the Highland Beast and Defeat the Darkness are at SMASHWORDS now, and they're on sale there for $0.99.

Back to our regularly scheduled blog topic: So my suggestion for writing in your sleep is take it seriously. Read something (preferably good). Watch something (hopefully inspiring). Think about something (creative) before you go to bed and then relax so your mind can search your thoughts and bring your random ideas together. Don't force it. Don't push it. I'm thinking of trying a little deep meditation. If I can keep finding missing objects in my sleep, I should be able to find missing conflicts in my plots. LOL

Let me know how you use this unscientific method. I could Google it but then the mystery would be gone.

Fate sealed Rourke and Dane's destiny thirty years ago. Now Celeste, a fae shifter, understands why she's irresistibly drawn to both the Werewolf and the Demon Dragon Shifter. Surely with her succubus nature, she'll be capable of seducing the two alpha men, but will she be able to convince them that sharing her to fulfill the Prophecy would be better than the alternative: chaos, destruction, or death?
Why are the men's tastes--in everything from food to sex--changing? Maybe because one is the prince of the wolf pack, and the other is the leader of the Lore, a dreaded Demon Dragon shifter. They have one option--accept their destiny and complete the ménage bond or die.

Professional Reviews

4.5 CHERRIES: "The idea that a ménage a trios could save the world is an intriguing premise and the fact that one of the men needs to be seduced into it was very hot indeed. Imagine my surprise when my favorite unicorn, Celia, is back to set another stage for love. I think her character is pretty cool and I love the ways she has to show her love for her extended family. I am thinking they wished she didn’t love them quite so much, until they get the full impact of what was planned for them. Then they’re pretty grateful, to a certain extent. In The Moon, The Madness, and The Magic, Celia sets up Celeste, her niece who has a very interesting bloodline, with Rourke, a very dominate and sexy growly man, and Dane, brother and best friend to Rourke and delicious in his own right. Of the three of them, Celeste is the only one in the know and the one with the responsibility to initiate the two men into her world and their place within it. That’s a great conflict right there. Add to that the fact that all three are going through some changes that will either destroy the world or save it depending on their choices and the plot accelerates even more. For erotic romance readers, the story is spiced up with the knowledge that unless the three bond through sex all Celeste’s explanations will be for naught. The world will still fall into chaos. That is a pretty serious load to carry based upon whether or not the men have what it takes to satisfy Celeste and the ménage bond. It’s a great concept and I couldn’t wait to see what Ms. March would do. I was fascinated with the author’s decision to make Rourke the stubborn one and as far as I’m concerned, the one who was the neediest. Rourke was a very strong character and yet I found him to be vulnerable. He simply can’t be anything else than what he is and he has to be dominant or he’d fall apart. And yet, he needs. He needs Celeste, craves her even. That passion and possessive drive could be his undoing. That dynamic worked for me. I felt it gave greater emotional depth to the story. Dane tugged at my heart strings. His torment comes from the choices he has to make. At one point I felt really sorry for him and was worried his heart would be so broken, he’d not recover and would turn bitter. I liked how the author circumvented that possibility with an inventive and sensual solution. On the other hand, what there was for physical interaction between the three of them was pretty inventive and hot so I am pretty sure erotic romance readers are going to find enough of what they look for to be satisfied and happy with this story. The Moon, The Madness, and The Magic is a well written, imaginative and entertaining read filled with spicy action and sultry seductions. The conflicts in this story are mostly internal but there’s an overt threat that looms over the three characters which adds to the tension and importance of their being successful. Of course writing a book where sex is the key to saving the world just had to be fun to write and it shows. There’s humor between the characters and lots of good buildup for a reader to enjoy which leads to a very satisfying happily ever after. I love how the men refused to “poof” and it summed up their personalities well. Rourke and Dane are not ‘poofy’ men; they are alphas all the way and oh, so yummy. I think readers will like them just as much as I did and will come away thinking Celeste is one lucky lady. Read it and see if you agree." -- Xeranthemum, Whipped Cream Reviews
"Without knowing the world I was fixing to be involved with, I never felt like I did not belong. Even with the glossary in the front ~ which had me a little scare ~ the description of the words were in the story and explained thoroughly enough that I never missed a beat. I did not have to flip to the front to see what the word meant. I really liked that. On to the story... Celeste know what her destiny is and has accepted it. She was given the Prophecy of her people and basically told her - this is your life. Knowing what your life has to be compared to what you want your life to be is two different stories. Until she meets the two men who will change her world... or should I say fulfill her world. Rourke and Dane, well they are another story. They are brothers... or should I say raised as though they are blood brothers. They have been raised together since birth, so as far as they are concerned they are brothers. However, their DNA has a completely different story to tell. And now they have to accept the story of one woman changing their world ~ forever. Three people come together: by destiny, by fate, by something greater than themselves. However, being "forced" together is not what they want. There is always the opportunity to walk away. But walking away could end Celeste's world as she knows it. Can three people come together and accept each other for they each have to offer? This is a great story... I just hit a couple of personal snags... My first snag was that there was a lot of shifting for one person. Human, wolf, were... Human, wolf, dragon... Human, fae shifter (wolf), succubus, dragon. I love my paranormal world, but I thought it was just a tiny bit much. But it is a paranormal world and since I have not dipped my feet in the paranormal world lately (just straight erotic), I kinda forgot that anything is game. But I will say that the shifting that happened... especially from wolf to dragon happened because it was a mate thing. So it was not out of the blue or anything like that. The other snag was the menage between the men. There were introduced as brothers and it just kinda stuck in the back of my mind. I do not want to leave this book on a so-so kinda book in your mind... So, I will say that this book is a great story telling book and I cannot wait to see where she takes this world and I will be going back to read book one!" -- Cecil, All I Want and More...

A quick glance into the giant mirror just past the potted palms had her ready to run. Thank goodness, the hallway was empty. She turned her back and glanced over her shoulder at the unfamiliar image reflecting back at her in the ceiling-to-floor mirror. Her hair was a mess of uncontrolled platinum curls piled high on her head. Her legs seemed to travel up the length of her body with no end in sight. A hard tug on the short, black leather skirt accomplished nothing. The material barely covered her ass, and the five-inch stilettos made her look like three-quarters of her body was leg and the remainder boobs.
She tried shoving her cleavage back into the bodice of the tiny top with little luck. The effort sent the contents of her purse scattering to the floor, and then she tried to sidestep to the left of her rolling lip gloss. That had her wobbling. Maneuvering in the shoes could get dangerous. She tried squatting very carefully, looked up at her reflection, and caught sight of…Oops, better not do that.
She looked around. The hall was still empty. Footsteps echoed on the marble floor, the sound drawing closer. She kicked the purse into the plants so she could retrieve it with her backside hidden in the foliage. If the quick flash of her undies hadn’t been warning enough, the cool breeze on her behind reminded her she only wore a thong.
Trying to maintain her balance as she rose, she used slow, stilted movements, aimed to appear deliberate and cautious to anyone who might venture by. She tugged once more at her skirt as two men rounded the corner and approached.
She recognized them from the pictures the Council had given her when they’d assigned her to this mission. Her heart pounded when they smiled.
There was no way the men would know her, but she hoped they didn’t sense anything from the wild emotions bubbling inside her, rising so close to the surface a neophyte could read them.
At first, their interest appeared to be no more than typical male awareness as they walked past her, but then one of them paused and turned her way as if he’d recalled something. She froze in place, refusing to look up and start anything.
Keep going, she willed them.
She wasn’t ready to confront her obligation to the Council yet. She turned her glamour down to a mere pilot light and didn’t breathe. They kept moving toward the music, fading into the dark club, but the scent of aroused wolf lingered.
Whew, that was close.
Walking in the spindly shoes presented a problem of sorts, sitting in the skirt would be impossible, and dancing might be disastrous. Her aunt was determined to throw her to the wolves. Literally.
“Damn, Celia, you did this on purpose knowing how short this would be. Are you listening?”
No response whispered in her mind.
“I’m not even as tall as some of the other fae. This skirt wouldn’t cover Rachel’s…well, you know what.”
With the mixed crowd gathering in the club, there appeared to be plenty of opportunities to release her inner resources. Celeste had come to accept her place among the Lore. She just hadn’t expected to face it for the first time half-dressed.
In this outfit, she’d have to be careful, very careful. The vamps would drool over her long, exposed neck. The leopards, lions, and wolves would love all her exposed flesh. The short skirt and the skintight, beacon-red, come-and-get-me tank top revealed way too much.
She rechecked herself in the mirror and groaned. The thin spaghetti straps barely held the top up against her straining breasts. Her erect nipples poked through the material. There was no way she could appear in public, let alone in a place filled with aroused, hungry males of all sorts, in this getup.
She took another backward glance and shook her head. A wild curl escaped her wound-up tresses and gave her an idea. Before the approaching full moon set this month, instinct would drive her to her first sexual experience, ready and willing or not. All males would be wildly attracted to her nature as it grew stronger with each passing night. They couldn’t resist their attraction to her under normal conditions, and under the present circumstances, she’d likely get mauled.
More footsteps and loud laughing. She had to hurry.
She unpinned her hair and let it fall like a curtain of curling, pale waves draping her shoulders. It fell over her breasts, down her back to her hips, and beyond, concealing the faery wings lying flat against her shoulder blades like a colorful tattoo.
The hair would protect her like a veil.
If her true mate didn’t claim her soon…Well, she’d ascend without his help, but she’d be a danger to all other males until she garnered control over her demanding sexual nature.
For some reason, the Council believed this club and its clients with every imaginable sexual preference provided the answer to her dilemma. Yesterday, the Council had confirmed the rumors Celeste had heard over the years, the ones about the prince’s return and her role in the prophecy. Before this moment, she hadn’t been so sure they were right. Now, her physical reaction said otherwise.
Even if she hadn’t recognized the men from their photos, something deep inside her would have known them from their scent.
The music blared, and the low lights inside the bar flashed to the beat. She stepped to the doorway and smiled. Her succubus rose. She liked the music, the lights, and oh, how she loved the scent of males. A plethora of alpha males, Weres, fae, demons, and shifters of all sorts, a veritable feast for her feminine wiles.
They all turned their attention in her direction when she entered the club. Celeste pushed her succubus nature beneath her wolf and dimmed her fae glamour. Looking at the hungry expressions on the faces staring at her, she was certain one of these men would gladly volunteer to ease her needs if that became necessary. For now, she wondered if she could handle letting destiny decide her life-mate, especially after glancing around the bar and seeing all the delicious possibilities. Hell, she might technically be a virgin, but she’d always had a good imagination.
Dane’s cock jerked, stood higher, more erect at his words, when Rourke asked, “So, do you enjoy the erotic thought of having me suck you off? Don’t get too excited yet. I have something else in mind first.”
Before Dane could get too caught up in the image, Rourke flipped Celeste over onto Dane’s chest and positioned her so she straddled his hips with her hot, slick pussy hovering directly over Dane’s raging erection. Rourke watched as Dane’s hips lifted to enter her, and Rourke pushed her hips down until she had the entire length of Dane’s cock inside her.
She let out a soft, satisfied sigh, and Dane groaned. “Fuck, there’s nothing like having a hot woman impaled on your rock-hard dick.”
“There’s nothing like being the one being impaled.” She smiled and arched her back, giving both Dane and Rourke the opportunity to admire her breasts.
They were tempting, rounded, and ripe, with large, pink areolas surrounding darker, pink-tipped nipples. Rourke cupped her full breasts from behind, pinching the pretty, erect nipples gently, while Dane’s hand steadied her hips.
Dane kept one breast in his hand as Rourke took the other. Then Rourke released her breast to play with her clit. She was wet and swollen. He liked the way she let out little mewling sounds as he tested her readiness. When he heard her suck in short, deep breaths as he circled the nub with his middle finger, he felt empowered. She screamed out his name when he applied just the right amount of pressure.
“God, Celeste, you know I love it when you come with my name on your lips.” Faery dust and pheromones released in the air. “And you smell so damn good.” Rourke’s voice sounded rough with need. “I need to be inside you, too. You know what I want.”
She nodded weakly.
“Are you ready for this?”
“Oh, God, yes,” she said.
He bent her forward on Dane’s chest, angling her ass up for better access to her cunt. While Dane took one nipple between his lips and teased it with his tongue, Rourke held her hips in place, struggling for control as his cock jumped. It throbbed with need as he watched Dane’s hard, pulsing penis sliding in and out of her bright pink pussy, shiny and wet with her own lubrication. They’d done that to her.
Dane’s cock pulled out all the way, and she cried out at the loss. Still outside her cunt, Rourke jacked Dane’s cock once or twice. Then he stuck his fingers into Celeste’s slit, scissoring her wider. Pulling some of the dripping pussy juice, he wiped it all over his shaft until it glistened, and then he wiped more over Dane’s cock and her pussy lips. He tested her entrance with three fingers, then four. She was tight, but they’d fit.
Rourke took Dane’s cock in hand, gripped it firmly against his own, and then re-entered her with both cocks, stuffing her tight cunt full.
Celeste cried out as they filled her.
“Does that hurt?”
“Oh. No. It. Is. Wonderful. More. Deeper. Ohhh.”
“Geezuz, Rourke, what the hell have you done? I love the way this feels. Your damn cock is so fucking hard pressed up against mine like this.”
“Yeah, this is good,” Rourke admitted, and he closed his eyes as they thrust, cock-to-cock, as one inside her cunt.
The faery dust mixed with their perspiration turned into glittering diamond crystals that disappeared on touch. Celeste’s moans were coming faster, and Rourke had one more opening he wanted to penetrate before they finished with her this time.
“If you think this is good, darlin’, wait ’til I fill you here.” Rourke pulled out of her pussy and placed the tip of his dick against her back entrance. “What do you think?”
“I think your pleasure is mine.”
“Good answer.”
She was plenty wet. Liquid heat poured out around the base of Dane’s cock. Rourke rubbed the natural lube over his shaft and tested her entrance with a finger, then two, and gently stretched her before pressing his cock head against the tiny hole. He watched his crown enter her opening and disappear inside the tight ring. He rocked in slowly, gaining ground each time.
Her breath hitched.
“Okay?” he asked.
“Yes…yes. Don’t stop.”

I Survived My Summer Vacation...Just Barely!

From Tampa to Dallas and then on to Colorado Springs, my kids were determined to show me everything before sending me back home to vegetate behind my desk. They succeeded and I filled things on my bucket list I had to add right before I did them.

The Ross Perot Museum of Science and Industry in Dallas is awesome for hands-on experiences of all kinds. I saw the inside of my hand and tested my ESP ability, thus verifying I actually have a brain before moving onto Colorado.
The Miramont Castle Museum in Manatou Springs
Sadly, I didn't go white water rafting this year, too much rain. (and cold - this Florida girl does not do cold) But the trip was filled with enough action to make up for it.
Shopping in Manatou Springs
I panned for gold at the Western Museum of Mining and Industry in Colorado Springs , and I'm sure the nuggets I found (that they said was fool's gold) was real.
Then I sluiced for gems (rocks, metals, seed pods) on the way back from going to the top of Pike's Peak, Oxygen was scarce for lungs used to below sea level amounts and I spent the day panting for breath. But I found a few pretty rocks. (I should take a geology course before I go again...and a canister of oxygen.)

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs is well known for breeding giraffes, and I got to feed them. These are very sweet animals with long, very long, black tongues. This zoo had excellent animal displays and habitats for a small zoo. I highly recommend a visit if you're in the area. Check out the Live WebCam of giraffes

And we also visited the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center. They are doing a splendid job of educating the public about the importance of keeping the wolves from becoming extinct. It is a wonderful experience to howl with the wolves.

Really you should click on my links and explore all these wonderful places if you plan to travel to Colorado or if you'd like to see more about them.
